education
Henley plays an important role in South Oxfordshire where education is concerned (the Thames Valley’s premier sixth form providers - Henley College and one of the country’s top performing schools, Gillotts School - are both located in the heart of the town). It is also home to one of the oldest business schools in Europe and one of the global ‘thought leaders’ in management – the Henley Management College.
Henley College offers 46 AS and A-level subjects as well as the International Baccalaureate to pupils aged 16-18 and was awarded ‘beacon’ status by the Department of Education and Skills in 2004. Gillotts School provides secondary education for 11-16 year olds and is a specialist school in maths and computing.
There are seven primary schools in the town and immediate surrounding area, offering education for 5-11 year olds.
Henley also has provisions for young adults in full time employment through Henley Training Centre, which provides training in the form of an apprenticeship at foundation and advanced level.
South Oxfordshire has many adult learning centres and Henley is a convenient location for accessing the centres based at Sonning, Wallingford and Didcot.
Oxfordshire County Council is responsible for providing education in Henley. Visit their website for terms dates, admissions and advice.
